Carnival Cruise Line representatives announced that the crew
of the Carnival Paradise ship rescued 27 Cuban nationals stuck at sea on
Sunday.
According to a Carnival spokesperson, Carnival
Paradise was en route from Tampa to Roatan, Honduras, at around 2:30 p.m.
local time when the vessel’s bridge team spotted the makeshift boat and turned around
to rescue them.
The 27 Cuban nationals were adrift at sea and signaling for
assistance.
Employees on Carnival Paradise rescued the stranded Cuban
nationals, brought them on the ship, provided them with food and beverages and
sent them for a checkup by Carnival’s onboard medical team.
Carnival Paradise’s captain contacted the United States Coast
Guard Sector Key West and officials from Roatan. The vessel is scheduled to
land in Honduras on Monday.
Last week, Carnival unveiled updates to GoCCL
Navigator, which are intended to streamline the booking process and improve
the overall user experience. GoCCL Navigator has a new design that should make
it easier for travel advisors to search for, view and compare offers.
