A bomb threat has reportedly caused an emergency landing Wednesday, as a British Airways flight from Las Vegas to London was diverted to Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport.
In a report from CBC News, the British Airways flight left McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas at 9:30 p.m. local time Tuesday and was scheduled to arrive at London Heathrow Airport at 3:25 p.m. local time, but there was reportedly a bomb threat made on the plane.
The pilot of the flight made the decision to divert from the route and make an emergency landing in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The aircraft landed safely at around 6 a.m. local time, and all 312 people on board were removed from the flight.
Upon landing at the Canadian airport, Montreal authorities and SWAT teams with canine units searched the aircraft. AirLive.net provided images of the plane as passengers were removed and over a dozen police cars make their way to the British Airways plane:
A spokeswoman for British Airways told CBC News that the company is cooperating with authorities, and that the passengers impacted by the emergency landing would be booked in local hotels free of charge.
The airline hopes to have all the passengers on new flights as soon as possible.
