Despite dissipating, Tropical Storm Danielle remains on track to threaten parts of eastern and central Mexico with flooding and mudslides into Wednesday, according to AccuWeather.
While the storm's winds have weakened since it made landfall about 10 miles north of the port of Tuxpan on Monday, Danielle is still producing heavy rainfall that poses a threat to travelers in the region.
As a result of the rainfall, the potential for life-threatening flooding and mudslides will be high in parts of the region into Wednesday.
AccuWeather said more than six inches of rain will be possible in some places, with the states of Hidalgo, Tlaxcala and Veracruz at the greatest risk for heavy rain and flooding.
What's more, the threat will persist through midweek since Danielle's moisture will be enhanced as it moves over the mountains of eastern Mexico.
The Washington Post reported Tuesday afternoon that the storm caused little major damage upon making landfall. However, one person was killed in the east-central state of Tamaulipas.
