Recently named Winter Storm Maya is causing travel headaches across the Northwest Monday and the weather pattern will move East across the northern tier of states and into the interior Northeast.
According to Weather.com, snowstorms associated with Winter Storm Maya continues to pound portions of states such as Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado, and the precipitation has caused issues for local airports.
Officials from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport said the facility received two inches of snow through Monday morning, but there were only 34 cancellations and eight delays, according to FlightAware.com as of 9:20 a.m. ET.

The snow is expected to continue moving East throughout Monday before eventually making its way to the Northeast Tuesday. States along the Canadian border, in the Great Lakes region and in New England are the most likely to deal with accumulating snowfall. Freezing rain and ice will be likely along the southern periphery of the storm.
Alaska Airlines has issued a travel advisory for airports in the Northwest. The carrier announced it will waive the change fees and the difference in the price of the fare if the new flight is booked from the same airport and in the same cabin. The transaction must be completed by Feb. 13 to be considered eligible.
While most airlines have not issued travel alerts in relation to Winter Storm Maya yet, travelers are being encouraged to contact your airline as the storm continues to move east to ensure flights are on schedule.
Airports aren't the only form of transportation dealing with delays and cancellations, as Amtrak has issued travel alerts for Winter Storm Maya. Amtrak's Cascades route-running between Eugene, Oregon, and Vancouver, British Columbia-has had its services canceled Monday.
In addition, the Amtrak Empire Builder train service between Minot, North Dakota, and Spokane, Washington, is currently not operating due to hazardous conditions along the route.
Rail passengers are also asked to call ahead to ensure their trains are still operating during the early portion of this week.
