Although summer's not over, the end is certainly in sight. But, that doesn't have to mean that the Pride celebrations, parades and fun have to come to an end. Plenty of local LGBT events are on tap during the remainder of August, so don't put away those rainbow flag shorts just yet.

Copenhagen Pride
August 15-20

Copenhagen has many LGBTQ events throughout the year, and its Pride Week is happening right now. There is a fantastic lineup all week, including golden oldies sing-alongs, an up-and-coming musical artists concert, a drag night and the actual parade and Pride Show on August 19. Make sure to stick around until the 20th for the After Pride Chill-Out, complete with drinks, music and local dishes.

Key West's Tropical Heat
August 16-20

This men-only Key West's Tropical Event features pool parties, adult-oriented entertainment and of course, some steamy weather. You don't want to miss things like the Naked Paddle Boarding Adventure, Bare or Underwear Pool Party, Tropical BBQ Blow-Out or Hotter Than Hell! Fetish Party. There will also be events as varied as snorkel and sandbar cruises and a Tennessee Williams Exhibit Curator Tour. VIP passes are available for $99.

NYC Black Pride
August 16-20

The five-day NYC Black Pride festival honors and celebrates various communities of color-lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender. Celebrating its 20th year, NYC Black Pride is being hosted at the Yotel New York on Tenth Avenue and 42nd St. Attendees can experience the Heritage Award Ceremony, Pride at the Beach (at Coney Island) and the Heritage Ball III: Family Reunion. There's also The Metallika Ball, the event's official youth party.

Ottawa Capital Pride
August 21-27

Canada's capital city celebrates for a whole week in late August. Ottawa Capital Pride starts with a traditional rainbow flag raising at city hall on Monday, August 21 at noon. There are several youth events planned, including a movie night, youth dance and the ALT Queer Art and Fashion Swap. Some other interesting aspects of the week include a Pride version of the popular Naked Boy Reading literary event, Bowling with the Bears, a pride art show, gaymers night, boat cruise, square dancing, and even the Dyke March. Performers include DJ Jungle Jen, Mykki Blanco, DJ Shub, Shawnee, The Lionyls and The PepTides.

Calgary Pride
August 25-September 4

The 27th annual Calgary Pride Festival is an 11-day affair and the main event moves to a new home in the city's Prince's Island Park, immediately after the Pride Parade moves through downtown on Sunday, September 3. The Parade itself is billed as being family friendly and more than 60,000 spectators are expected to watch the 150 displays from community groups, politicians, churches, businesses and LGBTQ services. Pride in the Park will feature music on the main stage as well as a kid's zone, marketplace area and beer gardens for those who wish to imbibe.

Charlotte Pride
August 26-27

This Pride Festival & Parade celebration in the so-called Queen City (!) bills itself as representing both the city of Charlotte and the Carolinas. Held in Uptown, the PNC Bank Festival Zone will feature both local and national performers, a retail zone, food stands, art exhibitors, non-profit organizations and more. VIP passes are available for $150. A unique aspect to this event is an LGBT-friendly college fair, with colleges and universities from across the country being represented. A family zone is intended for kids 11 and under, accompanied by an adult. The Bank of America Pride Parade itself-the fifth annual event-will be held on Sunday, August 27, from 1 to 3 p.m.
