American Cruise Lines has christened its newest ship, American Encore.
The ceremony took place in Lewiston, Idaho, during the five-deck vessel’s inaugural sailing, the 9-day “Columbia & Snake Rivers” cruise that departed from Stevenson, Washington.
The cruise line and the Port of Lewiston teamed up to construct a new dock, which provides additional space for American’s ships.
The ship’s godmother is Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who served for 20 years as the U.S. representative for Washington's fifth congressional district.
American Encore can accommodate up to 180 guests in its all-balcony cabins. The ship introduces American’s newest stateroom category, the 1,500-square-foot Signature Suite, complete with a wraparound balcony, separate living and sleeping spaces and a hotel-sized bathroom with soaking tub and heated floors
Other onboard amenities include a grand dining room and casual café, multiple indoor and outdoor lounges, top deck lounge and outdoor walking track, large gym, complimentary laundry room and elevators to all passenger decks.
“This is our sixth ship on the river and the flagship of our aggressive posture to up the game globally,” said Charles B. Robertson, the company’s president and chief executive officer.
