Pictar, despite what the name suggests, isn't a seven-story monster that ravages a city by taking amazing pictures. No, Pictar is something handy you travelers can use.
The people over at Miggo have come up with an iPhone grip that essentially offers the comfort and various buttons and abilities of an actual camera.
While it won't negate the need for a DSLR for you professionals out there, it does seem to offer a wealth of functions that will take amateur photos up a few notches.
And for that professional who uses the iPhone for quick snapshots, you can really see how something like this would come in handy.

At the moment, Pictar is the belle of the Kickstarter ball, garnering over $165,000 with 29 days to go. That means it already surpassed its goal of $100,000 and then some.
As the campaign reminds, iPhones have come a long way. You can now get some amazing quality from the device that sits in so many of your respective pockets.
However, it still feels like a fragile device as it sits in your hand as you travel the world. It also isn't exactly made to fit the needs of photographers.
This is a web browsing, texting, audio solution that makes phone calls we are talking about. When you are a Jack-of-all-trades, some things will be left out.
Pictar helps the frustrated photographer by giving some of those crucial knobs and buttons back to what is really a darn fine camera.
Now you can zoom effortlessly as you manage a pressure sensitive shutter release. There is even an exposure wheel as well as a cold shoe mount to give light to that previously dim setting you had framed.
Some of the available packages are gone. However, you can still get the first wave of Pictar with a donation of $90.
That gets you a Pictar unit, wrist strap, pouch and corresponding app. All of which are promised by November of this year.
The best part is that Miggo promises that it will fit everything from the 4/4s to the new 6s.
