Easy Rider Tours rolled out two new six-day "Biking Breakaways" trips in Europe, priced at $1,995 per person. The trips explore two corners of the Continent that are perfect for two-wheeled travel. In Portugal, the Algarve Blue tour is a scenic spin along the southwest coast. Cyclists' most memorable ride might be the trek to the land's end at Cabo de São Vicente, the southwesternmost point in Europe and once considered the edge of the Western world. Plenty of "off-bike" time is planned for relaxing along beaches and visiting historic landmarks from Roman ruins to an ancient Moorish fortress. Accommodations are never far from the shore. The tour finishes in the historic seaport of Lagos, known for its museums, gardens, sidewalk cafes, and, of course, inviting ocean waters.
In Ireland, Celtic Connemara explores Eire's emerald hillsides, villages and pubs. The route takes in some of Ireland's most beloved landscapes -- the Twelve Bens, the Sky Road, Killary Fjord, and even views of Croagh Patrick. Well-fed cyclists will "leave no scone unturned," sampling everything from fresh-baked treats to real Irish stew, not to mention pints of Guinness at day's end. Lodgings are in lively towns like Roundstone, Leenane, and Westport. Along the way, cyclists can take in Irish culture with a border collie sheepherding demonstration and a walking tour of Galway City.
For each trip, the $1,995 per person price includes all accommodations, most meals, use of a 24-speed bicycle, two experienced guides, and a support vehicle to carry luggage (and the occasional tired cyclist).
