Japan specialist travel agency, KIE/Kintetsu International is offering a new exclusive group tour using world-renowned Kumamoto expert Ken Takenaga as the personal tour guide. Takenaga is the official North American representative of the Kumamoto Prefecture in Kyushu. He is based in New York, but was born and raised on Kyushu. His expertise not only focuses on Kyushu and Kyoto, but also Japanese Buddhism and literature. Born in Kumamoto Prefecture (the focus of this program), he has already accompanied a multitude of groups ranging from university professors to journalists to tourists. His personal contacts in Kyushu allow our travelers unique and personal experiences -- with most taking place in exclusive private settings to which only KIE has access. These sites and experiences include a private tea ceremony at a centuries-old tea house led by direct descendant of a feudal lord; a dolphin-watching cruise in Amakusa, where dolphins and fisherman co-exist peacefully; a private performances of regional music and dance; a Bunraku puppet theater performance by the world-famous troupe; a live aqueduct in operation; Maiko Performance in a real o-chaya (teahouse); transportation on the famous shinkansen (Japanese bullet trains); daily breakfast and lunch, featuring traditional Japanese dishes, seasonal delicacies and kaiseki meals; and accommodations in four- and five-star city hotels in great locations, and premium ryokan (Japanese-style inn) with onsen (hot spring spa). An option is available to extend your stay in Kyoto or elsewhere in Japan. The price is $4,750 per person double occupancy, land only. For more information, visit www.fly2japan.com.
