If you choose to travel for Easter, Madrid should be one of the destinations you consider.

Few European cities put on Easter events quite like Madrid.

Book your stay with Barcelo Hotel Group, which offers a plethora of hotel options in Madrid and all around Spain as well.

The Holy Week of Easter, also known as Semana Santa in Madrid, lasts from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. It's a lovely time to visit the city and explore the many historical landmarks and attractions.

Travelers will also get to experience the Spanish culture in a unique way around this religious holiday.

One of the best ways to enjoy the Easter holiday in Madrid is to watch the parades.

Per the Barcelo blogger, "the scene is a sea of bright religious costumes, the atmosphere loud with the pounding of feet, drums, and trumpets accompanying each parade that commemorates the Passion and death of Jesus Christ."

The famous Cristo de Medinaceli (Christ of Medina) procession takes place on Good Friday. The procession of silence here can be very powerful for those experiencing it for the first time as well as for those who have experienced it before.

Make your way up to Faro de Moncloa, also known as "La Torre de Iluminación y Comunicaciones del Ayuntamiento de Madrid" for a bird's-eye view of the city if you'd rather not be in the massive parade crowds.

The former communication tower is the perfect spot to see the city and soak in all its beauty.

Another must-do during Easter in Madrid is to go to church. Services are held at the Almudena Cathedral, Basilica of Nuestra Señora de Atocha, the Parish Church of Santa Cruz and the Pontifical Basilica of San Miguel.

Soccer is also a big draw at this time, so book your tickets in advance if you wish to watch a Real Madrid FC match.

Other ways to best experience Madrid during Easter is by eating delicious treats and trying new foods, sipping fine wines, as well as visiting parks, history museums and shopping villages.
