The Mexico Tourism Board is taking its legendary Day of the Dead (Dia de Muertos) celebration on a world tour in anticipation of the upcoming fall festivities.
Beloved Day of the Dead characters such as El Charro, the Bride and Groom, Frida and Diego and the Big Head Revolutionaries will visit major cities all across North America and Europe, including New York, Chicago, Montreal, Toronto, Paris, London and Berlin.
The tour will allow travelers and locals alike the opportunity to have their picture taken with their favorite characters in front of some of the world's most famous landmarks, including the Brooklyn Bridge, Cloud Gate and Eiffel Tower, among others.
A centuries-old tradition, Day of the Dead takes place every year from late October through the first week of November, with special events taking place all over Mexico.
The season marks the time for Mexicans to honor, remember and, most importantly, celebrate family members and friends who have passed away.
It's already been a decade since the UNESCO recognized the holiday as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Mexico City hosts the world's largest Day of the Dead parade and the attraction is only growing each year. Last year, more than one million people attended the event.
Attendees will see costume performers, dancing, stylish floats and much more over the course of the highly anticipated spectacle.
In addition to the third annual Day of the Dead parade in Mexico City October 27, visitors to Mexico can look forward to immersive experiences in destinations such as Aguascalientes, Michoacan, Guanajuato and Oaxaca.
