The Riviera Maya area is filled with unique history and traditions. One of the oldest traditions is the Sacred Mayan Journey that happens each year in May. On May 17, canoers, or Messengers of the Moon, left from the beach area at Xcaret Park and traveled over to Cozumel to worship the goddess Ixchel.
Anyone can buy a ticket to this event, but a stay at Hotel Xcaret Mexico gives guests complimentary access. In order to see the canoers off, visitors need to catch the shuttle going to the park between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m.
By preserving and celebrating the Mayan and Mexican traditions throughout the years, the people of Hotel Xcaret are able to share them with visitors through stories and events. Guests are taken back in time to get a glimpse of history, and the messengers even dress in traditional attire each year.
Hotel Xcaret Mexico strives to always allow guests to feel immersed in the Mexican culture, from the traditional Mexican cuisine at the restaurants on property to the ancient treatments available at the Muluk Spa.
And with the All-Fun Inclusive concept, visitors will enjoy history and culture not only throughout the resort but at the various parks as well.
