In the hotter months, you can pivot and visit the fascinating Historical Museum of Heraklion for your taste of history indoors. Crete has a deep-rooted history dating back thousands of years. Mythology enthusiasts will recognize it as the birthplace of Zeus, the king of the Greek gods. The Minoan civilization flourished here almost 3000 years ago, and today, you’ll spot incredible relics from their time, such as the Palace of Knossos.
