Maybe it’s Greenland’s outsized appearance on Mercator projection maps, the remoteness of the island or the unique culture here that has intrigued travelers for ages. And the vast wilderness of Greenland is more accessible than ever, thanks to HX Expeditions’ recent extension of its popular “Greenland Promise” to cover all sailings in both 2026 and 2027.
The HX Greenland Promise is an innovative program in which the company gives guests confidence in traveling to the island. Under the program, if a Greenland sailing in 2026 or 2027 is cancelled or if a guest’s home country’s government advises against travel, the traveler has options. The guest can then transfer to a different cruise of voyage, receive an additional 20% Future Cruise Credit, or simply receive a full refund.
Some of the places visitors can explore include:
• Ilulissat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, boasts massive blue icebergs floating in an impossibly blue sea on Greenland’s western coast. The Sermeq Kujalleq glacer actively calves massive chunks of ice under the magical midnight sun.
• Ittoqqortoormiit, the only permanent settlement in Scoresby Sound, provides visitors with a unique look into the native people’s lives. Experience local food, watch handicrafts being made, and attend a cultural celebration here.
• See the glittering black sand beaches of Qeqertarsuaq, as well as its colorful buildings, volcanic rock formations, and more.
• The capital of Nuuk is a thriving and modern settlement, and insanely photogenic. From painted gable-roofed homes to modern architecture, this city will charm any visitor.
• In Qaanaaq, formerly known as Thule, you’ll venture into one of the world’s most northerly cities, and experience the midnight sun that shines on the region for five full months of the year. The disparity between the enormous icebergs floating past brightly painted houses is something that has to be seen to be believed. Plus, you’ll enjoy ancient traditions like dog sledding and kayaking.
