I never thought I’d encounter a restaurant experience that felt quite like Nobu.

From the high-quality ingredients to the exquisite flavors to the top-notch service and the sexy ambiance every single time without fail, Nobu has mastered the concept of casual yet elevated dining across the globe. These restaurants are hot spots in every city that is blessed with their presence, and recently I had the pleasure of dining at the Nobu in Los Cabos, part of the Nobu Hotel Los Cabos.

My dinner was, in true Nobu fashion, perfect in every way.

But the next night, I decided to try out the new kid on the block – Nobu Hotel Los Cabos’ new rooftop dining concept, Muna. And what took place inside that restaurant still has me in awe.

The word muna is Arabic for “wishes,” and the minute you step into this new Nobu Hotel restaurant, your muna is their command. Located inside the hotel’s new Nobu Residences, this Mediterranean-inspired restaurant may have dethroned Nobu for my top spot.

The Vibes

Though Muna boasts a different atmosphere than that of the classic Nobu Restaurant, it maintains that same casual feeling, in its own unique way. In fact, Muna feels even more casual than Nobu. That’s likely thanks in part to its neighboring rooftop hang, M Bar, which entices with its tasty cocktails and breathtaking sunset views, making it the crown jewel of sunset views of the entire Nobu Los Cabos property.

With its bright decor, open kitchen, and rooftop vibes, Muna evokes the feeling of dining in the Mediterranean version of Tulum, transporting diners to a dreamy seaside retreat.

The Service

The ambiance of the restaurant may feel more relaxed, but the level of service at Muna exudes regality. A feeling of grandeur envelops you as you are cared for by the attentive Muna staff. Every detail is catered to with the greatest care, and should anything fall short of your expectations, the team is swift to remedy it without hesitation. During my visit to Muna with my partner, who adheres to a strict Keto diet for health reasons, I was thoroughly impressed by the extraordinary measures taken by Chef Alberto Saavedra and the entire Muna staff to accommodate his unique (and often challenging) dietary requirements.

With meticulous attention to detail, they ensured that every dish that graced our table was tailored to his dietary restrictions.

The Food

Speaking of dishes on the table, prepare to experience the sensory ecstasy that is Muna’s cuisine as your mind is blown by the flavors that bless your tastebuds here. Executive Chef Paolo Della Corte has curated a menu that is nothing short of perfection with its blend of Mediterranean-meets-the-Pacific.

I trust you can’t go wrong with anything on this menu, but one of the highlights that got my dining experience off to an incredible start was the Almond Hummus. It’s topped with a variety of different things, including onion ash and fresh black truffle.

For appetizers, the “Battuta” Australian Wagyu Beef, the Seared King Scallop, Fermented Lemon, Saffron Bearnesa and Spanish Chistorra (served in a beautiful shell), and the Confit Duck Mini Gyros with Truffle Tzatziki took the cake.

The main course menu is divided into four different parts, which makes it much easier for those who are on a low-carb diet as well as those who prefer food from the land over seafood and vice versa: “From the Sea,” “From the Sea With Carbs,” “From the Land,” “From the Land With Carbs.”

Since we were dining Keto-style, we had the Flash Fried Stone Bass from Greece with “Meunière” Style Sauce and Broccoli Purée along with the Short Rib Glazed with “Mosto de Uva,” Raisin, Parsnip, and Fresh Endive with Jocoque for our mains and I could not have been more pleased. They may not have been my typical order but the flavors in this satisfied everything I could have wanted, and more.

I highly recommend giving yourself unlimited time to enjoy the flavors and the atmosphere of Muna (we managed to spend over three hours sitting at our table as I “oohed” and “aahed” at everything that was placed before us). Then, pop over to M Bar for a nightcap, a cool evening breeze, and some fabulous music.

Though Nobu is a restaurant I will continue to recommend to anyone and everyone for a truly exemplary eating experience, for those of you that find yourselves in Los Cabos, I urge you to opt for Muna, an unexpected culinary adventure that you don’t want to miss.
