Skytrax World's Best Airport Awards

1/11
Like many events, the annual Skytrax World Airport Awards were forced to go virtual in 2020 due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Skytrax conducted a survey of air travelers from more than 100 different countries from September 2019 to February 2020, analyzing as many as 550 airports to determine the world's best.

10. Kansai International Airport

2/11
One of four Japanese airports and seven East Asian airports to make the top 10 in 2020, Osaka's Kansai International Airport replaces Switzerland's Zurich Airport at number 10 this year and was also awarded "World's Best Airport Staff Service."

9. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

3/11
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is one of only two in Europe to crack Skytrax's top 10 this year, rising from 14th in 2019 to ninth in 2020. Schiphol jumped Frankfurt, Zurich and London Heathrow in the process.

8. Chubu Centrair International Airport

4/11
Chubu Centrair International Airport in Nagoya, Japan slipped two spots from 2019 but nonetheless continues to win passengers over with its eye-catching design and an impressive selection of restaurants, among other highlights.

7. Narita International Airport

5/11
Japan's Narita International Airport is regularly praised for its efficiency, the plethora of shops and friendly staff. Despite climbing two spots to seventh in 2020, the airport is still only second-best in the bustling Tokyo region.

6. Hong Kong International Airport

6/11
Hong Kong International Airport has proven cutting-edge time and again. Most recently amid the coronavirus pandemic, the airport became the world's first to trial full-body disinfectant machines capable of sanitizing passengers in under one minute.

5. Munich Airport

7/11
Germany's Munich Airport rose two spots from 2019, overtaking Hong Kong and Chubu Centrair for fifth overall. A favorite among travelers passing through the Bavarian capital, the airport is frequently lauded for its organization and cleanliness.

4. Incheon International Airport

8/11
South Korea's Incheon International Airport remains securely in the top five, undoubtedly ranking among the best airports to spend a long layover with a handful of exciting features such as a golf course, indoor ice skating rink and spa services.

3. Hamad International Airport

9/11
Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar is still the best airport in the Middle East, leaping Incheon for third place in 2020. Hamad was also recognized by AirHelp as one of the world's best airports based on on-time performance, service quality and food and shops in 2019.

2. Tokyo Haneda Airport

10/11
While Tokyo Haneda Airport remains just second-best overall, it was crowned "World's Best Domestic Airport" and "World's Cleanest Airport" at the 2020 Skytrax World Airport Awards.

1. Singapore Changi Airport

11/11
No surprises here. Singapore Changi Airport has been named the world's best airport for the eighth consecutive year. Last year, the ever-expanding airport debuted the multi-use Jewel Changi Airport featuring a number of highlights, including the world's tallest indoor waterfall.

The 2020 Skytrax World Airport Awards were announced through a virtual ceremony on Sunday.
