The demand was there, just like they said it would be. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screened a record number of passengers during the July 4th weekend. 

It’s not the first time this has happened, and it probably won’t be the last. United Airlines offered some of its flight attendants triple pay to work the busy Fourth of July weekend. 

This is not the news you want to digest while going through an airport to get to your flight. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is reporting an increase in loaded guns found at airport security checkpoints.

True story. An entire flight was diverted after a man threw a temper tantrum on board after realizing he did not get the meal he originally requested. 

Luckily, nobody was hurt. In an unfortunate encounter with the jet bridge, an American Airlines flight lost a cabin door that literally fell to the runway ground.

In light of the record-breaking year of passenger demand this summer, Congress is considering a bill that would alleviate overcrowded airlines. 

Hopefully it will have a domino effect on the rest of the industry. But United Airlines averted a crisis by reaching a multi-year pact with its pilots, said to be very lucrative. 

Low-cost carrier Breeze Airways, which likes to utilize underserved airports, is adding 11 new routes from the state of Florida. Most of them will be based in Southwest Florida.  

In an effort to avoid a possible strike and disruption of summer flights, American Airlines upped its offer to the pilots association. To stay competitive with United Airlines, American offered a similar deal to its pilots.

Be careful what you say. That could be one of the lessons learned here as Frontier Airlines faces a lawsuit over deceptive advertising. 

One of the big stories of the summer has been the extreme heat that has settled in across much of the United States. One of the consequences of the hot weather has been airlines having to reduce their fuel consumption. 

Ultra-low-cost airlines are a viable option to fly. When they fly, that is. For better economic reasons, among others, some of them are cutting back on midweek flights.

When British Airways found that the food loaded on one of its planes was not properly chilled, it did the safe thing. When in doubt, throw it out. But that left an airplane full of hungry passengers who were about to make a transatlantic flight. So the airline did the next best thing. It ordered several buckets of chicken and had them delivered from a local KFC in Nassau, the Bahamas. 

American Airlines has a new policy for its smaller, regional jets. From now on, American is asking its customers to put a luggage tag on carry on or small bags when they fly small, regional jets. 

In the wake of a terrific second quarter of earnings, Boeing Company said it would boost production of the world’s most popular plane, the 737-MAX.
