The COVID-19 pandemic hampered travel like never before in 2020 and forced many people, including some celebrities, to cancel their vacation plans. Nonetheless, money and fame equal access, and the stars weren't stuck at home for too long compared to the average person this past year. That's the power of a private jet or in some cases a bottomless bank account. Here's a look back at some of the most notable celebrity getaways in 2020.

Colorado

The Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey, kept her tradition of traveling to the mountains for the holidays alive in 2020, renting an RV for the road trip from Los Angeles to Aspen, Colorado. According to Outdoorsy, Carey's five-day itinerary featured stops in several national parks, including Zion, Capitol Reef, Arches and Canyonlands. The Bachelor's Peter Weber and Kelley Flanagan were also spotted in Colorado this year, spending some quality time in spectacular Vail.

Utah

Utah hosted several celebs this year, including Hailey and Justin Bieber. The couple road tripped through the Mormon State this summer, capturing plenty of scenic and PDA-filled photos for Instagram along the way. Kylie Jenner also visited Utah in 2020, unwinding at the luxe Amangiri resort in Canyon Point. This Is Us star Milo Ventimiglia even made it out to Arches National Park this autumn.

Wyoming

Just north of Utah in Wyoming, the Kardashians vacationed at the $14 million Monster Lake Ranch that Kanye West purchased in September 2019. Jessica Alba also spent some time away with her family in Wyoming this past summer, posting a serene selfie from her canoe.

Riverdale star Lili Reinhart vacationed by one of the world's largest inland seas this summer, visiting Southern California's Salton Sea in June. Elsewhere in the Golden State, Grammy Award-winner Christina Aguilera enjoyed an RV trip with family along the scenic Pacific Coast; Lizzo found inspiration in Palm Desert, and NSYNC singer Lance Bass and his husband Michael Turchin camped out at El Capitan State Beach to the west of Santa Barbara before unwinding in Palm Springs.

Georgia

Like many Americans this year, some celebrities opted for under-the-radar getaways. For example, Academy Award-winner Ben Affleck and girlfriend Ana de Armas escaped to Georgia in June along with Affleck's mother and three children. The stars were assisted on their journey by a private jet.

Dancer, actress and singer Julianne Hough relaxed with family in serene Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in August. Hough documented her trip on Instagram, during which she spent time connecting with nature, practicing yoga, biking and wake surfing, among other activities.

Pop legend Britney Spears and boyfriend Sam Asghari took a private jet to Maui, Hawaii for an early birthday getaway last month. The Aloha State launched its pre-travel testing program in mid-October allowing out-of-state visitors to bypass quarantine with proof of a negative COVID-19 test result.

Music's first billionaire couple, Beyonce and Jay-Z were among the biggest stars to vacation in the Hamptons this year. Pop icon Rihanna also rented a cottage in this eastern Long Island hotspot from mid-July to mid-August while Paris Hilton made an appearance with boyfriend Carter Reum in late-June. New York City was also a favorite of celebrities despite COVID-19 travel restrictions, with Kourtney Kardashian and TikTok star Addison Rae enjoying fall in Manhattan.

Tennessee

Country singer Maren Morris and husband Ryan Hurd celebrated the latter's 34th birthday in Tennessee's Great Smoky Mountains. The two lovebirds drank martinis and enjoyed stellar views from the secluded Blackberry Mountain resort. HGTV star Christina Anstead also traveled to the Volunteer State this year, visiting Nashville with her two oldest children.

Actors Timothee Chalamet and Eliza Gonzalez enjoyed a romantic getaway to Cabo San Lucas, as did actress Rebel Wilson and boyfriend Jacob Busch. Meanwhile, the beloved duo of Chrissy Teigen and John Legend spent time with family and friends in Puerto Vallarta this summer. Selling Sunset stars Chrishell Stause and Mary Fitzgerald also vacationed in Cabo this year. Stause escaped to the adults-only all-inclusive Le Blanc Spa Resort with boyfriend Keo Motsepe of Dancing with the Stars while Fitzgerald enjoyed time with husband Romain Bonnet at Montage Los Cabos, the same resort visited by HGTV's Tarek El Moussa and Selling Sunset's Heather Rae Young in August. Even former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo, former World Cup alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn and hockey star P.K. Subban made it to Los Cabos in 2020.
