A Look Inside Prince Charles' New Hotel, Granary Lodge

If you haven't heard, Prince Charles opened a charming bed-and-breakfast called Granary Lodge in Scotland on the grounds of Castle of Mey. The property opened on May 15 to the public, inviting tourists to explore the historic castle in a whole new way: by staying in this warm and welcoming B&B.

Whether you're a royal fan or you're looking for a boutique stay in Scotland, here's a look into the various rooms and spaces you'll find at Granary Lodge.

Granary Lodge is a 10-room bed-and-breakfast created from the Caslte of Mey's old granary building and an adjacent cottage. The exterior looks just as the name suggests - a lodge. Rooms cost between $204 and $249 per night.

There are 10 rooms at Granary Lodge, two of which are luxury suites with their own lounge areas and spacious ensuite bathrooms. There are eight rooms with super-king or king-size double beds all with their own en-suite bathrooms, too. Rooms have amenities like cozy beds, Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. One of the rooms is accessible for travelers with disabilities.

The bathrooms at Granary Lodge are as luxurious as the bedrooms. With clawfoot bathtubs in some bathrooms, guests can enjoy a long soak after a day of exploring the surrounding areas or rinse off in the sleek and modern glass showers.

The communal areas feature plenty of historic elements relevant to Scotland and England. One of the walls has 80 frames of clans of Scotland, while a gallery of portraits features photographs of HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. Lovers of decor can also admire six grandfather clocks throughout the property.

The Granary Lodge hopes to introduce evening meals during the summer of 2019 to their residents. They will source the food and ingredients from local suppliers when possible.

Granary Lodge is located in the North Highlands of Scotland, an area rich in nature and wildlife, so it makes sense that much of the decor throughout the property features floral themes and animals or sea creatures.

Picture yourself with a cup of tea and a good book in the Granary Lodge's Drawing Room. With a fire in the fireplace, its sure to make a cozy environment that will invite conversations and great cheer among guests in the evening.

The luxury suites are quite spacious and offer plenty of sitting areas for guests to spread out and relax.

The rooms and common areas at Granary Lodge have a luxurious Victorian style. They sourced all of the sofas from Kingcome Sofas in London, curtain boards from Curtainwise in Cumnock, East Ayrshire, soft furnishings, lamps and cushions from Oka in London and some furniture, presumably antiques, from Georgian Antiques in Edinburgh.
