These Are the Most Popular Searched for City Destinations Right Now

Not only do people want to get away for the summer, they want to make it memorable.

The most popular city destination report showing the top 100 most-searched cities in the world for summer travel is out, courtesy of the research company ForwardKeys. In a ranking system that takes into account several factors, including where a destination finished last year, the most searched destination for this summer is …

Bangkok.

And it wasn’t even close, according to the metrics used by ForwardKeys. The top 10 are:

1. Bangkok - This Thailand city is the place loose to cut loose. Bangkok was number 4 on last year’s list.
2. Paris - The city of light and the city of love.
3. London - Perhaps the most tradition-laden city in the world.
4. Bali - When you think of exotic locales and beautiful beaches, this is the place.
5. Barcelona - Not only is this one of Europe’s most bustling cities, but the chance to hang out on Las Ramblas alone is worth the visit.
6. New York - It’s a 24/7 town with something for everyone to do. 
7. Lisbon - An up and coming underrated city with a lot of history and essential location.
8. Istanbul - Becoming more and more popular, but it slipped a couple of places from last year’s list.
9. Madrid - Definitely a suitable backup if you really want to go to Spain, but can’t make it to Barcelona.
10. Athens - Certainly one of the most rich cities as far as history goes. Plus you get to see one of the world’s most amazing sights in the Parthenon.

This is an impressive list, of course, but summer vacation is what you make it. Still, this isn’t a shabby way to start.
