Travelers departing one of the busiest terminals in the United States will now have a boarding experience that’s both bright and airy as well as high-tech, thanks to American Airlines’ latest construction project.
The Texas-based carrier has just unveiled nine electronic boarding gates in its brand-new Terminal C pier expansion at Dallas-Forth Worth International Airport (DFW).
The new gates are the final piece of the new pier expansion to launch, and they offer travelers a spacious and modern area to relax before boarding, with high ceilings and energy-efficient windows.
The gates themselves are equipped with electronic boarding technology that’s designed to seamlessly guide passengers through the boarding process.
It’s all a preview to a larger reconstruction project American has underway for DFW’s Terminal C. The airline is completely rebuilding Terminal C, which is more than five decades old and one of the original terminals at DFW.
The airline’s multi-billion-dollar DFW expansion project is expected to be completed over the next few years and make American the first U.S. airline to launch electronic boarding gates at scale.
The rebuilt Terminal C building will house a total of 32 gates and more than 1 million square feet of facilities, including new check-in, security, and baggage handling areas, as well as restaurants and shops.
“The opening of the new pier provides a preview of what customers can expect from the ongoing transformation at DFW, showcasing American’s Forever Forward mindset as we look to the future,” said American’s Senior Vice President of DFW Operations Jim Moses. “The expansion also arrives just in time to serve our customers during what’s going to be a landmark summer.”
