Passengers experienced tense moments aboard a United Airlines flight from Frankfurt, Germany after the plane's tires blew out upon landing at Newark Liberty International Airport Sunday.
According to New Jersey's News 12, several tires failed after the plane touched down shortly before 2 p.m. ET Sunday.
None of the 264 passengers or 15 crew members were injured. United confirmed that passengers were deplaned and later bussed to the terminal after spending about an hour on the tarmac.
"It was like crazy. I almost went flying out of my seat," Long Island native Briana Oakland told News 12.
Another passenger, Hillary Kwiatek, documented the incident in a series of tweets.
Kwiatek credited United and everyone involved in handling the situation for doing so "brilliantly."
Nonetheless, the breakdown forced the temporary closure of one of the airport's runways, leading to some unexpected flight delays Sunday afternoon as many travelers were returning home from the Thanksgiving holiday.

Sunday's landing gear incident occurred the same day that another United flight traveling from Munich, Germany to Newark was diverted to London after several passengers became ill. The plane has been removed from service and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of passengers' illness, according to The Independent.
Newark was not a happy place to be during the Thanksgiving holiday, either.
Earlier this year, a Delta Air Lines flight was forced to abort takeoff from Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport after blowing a pair of tires on the runway.
