The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has confirmed that it's "aware and looking into" a viral video that appears to show a cargo plane making a dangerous maneuver at a Texas Airport earlier this week.
The video, which was posted to the social media platform X by user @EBAviation on Wednesday, shows the Boeing 777 making an extremely low pass over the runway at Horseshoe Bay Resort Jet Center outside of Austin, Texas.
The dramatic footage sparked online debate about whether the video was real or crafted with AI.
Flight-tracking website FlightRadar24 uncovered that a Boeing 777-200 registered as N705DN overflew the Horseshoe Bay Resort Jet Center on Wednesday, with the flight from Indiana's Grissom Aeroplex (KGUS) landing at Fort Worth Alliance Airport (KAFW) in Texas around 3 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
Jetran acquired the aircraft from Delta Air Lines in 2020 and said it was conducting a final test flight before delivery to Qatar Airways Cargo, which explains the livery.
"We are aware of a video circulating on social media showing a freighter aircraft conducting a low-pass flight in a manner that does not reflect operational standards," Jetran said in a statement.
"We expect the relevant parties and authorities to investigate this matter thoroughly and take appropriate action," the company added.
