Iberia Airlines has partnered with its parent company, British Airways, as well as Qatar Airways, to enhance what is already the world’s largest aviation alliance and will start a flight from Madrid to Doha in December. It is part of an expansion for Iberia that is scheduled to begin later this summer.
Iberia’s addition to the partnership creates a network that serves more than 60 countries, making connections in the Middle East and in Europe much easier. In fact, from Doha, the three airlines combine to reach 200 destinations.
All three airlines offer luxurious accommodations in their respective seating sectors.
All three are touting their connectivity, however, with the ability to fly to such places as Korea and Thailand, as well as Africa.
Iberia CEO Fernando Candela said in a statement.: “We are really excited about the launch of our Madrid-Doha route. …We are building the much-desired bridge between Spain and more than 200 destinations in Asia, Australasia, the Middle East, and Africa and offering new opportunities for travelers in both directions. Our country is moving towards a new model of higher-quality tourism, and with the Madrid-Doha launching, we are making a breakthrough.”
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker added that “Our passengers will now have more opportunities than ever to connect to different destinations across the British Airways, Iberia, and Qatar Airways networks. This collaborative effort comes as part of our commitment to continuously improve the offerings available to our passengers and provide them with the best in the industry.”
