JetBlue is enhancing its TrueBlue loyalty program.
The same week that the airline raised checked baggage fees due to rising oil costs, it announced the debut of TrueBlue Subscriptions and the ability for customers to redeem TrueBlue points to purchase more travel extras.
TrueBlue Subscriptions allows travelers to capitalize on what JetBlue is calling "Points On Repeat." Subscribers can choose from three tiers, including Points Traveler, Points Adventurer and Points Trailblazer, based on their travel habits, with options to pay monthly or annually to earn points consistently while unlocking travel benefits, flight accelerators and redemption rebates.
Monthly subscription prices range from $13 to $67.75. Travelers paying the latter for Points Trailblazer status will benefit from 2,500 points per month, a 10 percent redemption rebate and 3 points per $1 spent.
In addition to making it easier to earn points, JetBlue is expanding how customers can cash in. Travelers can now redeem points for travel extras such as seat assignments—including EvenMore, Core Preferred and Extra Legroom upgrades—first and second checked bags, pet travel fees and priority security access at select airports.
"TrueBlue has always been about delivering real value with rewards that go further and meet our customers’ travel preferences and expectations,” Ed Pouthier, vice president of loyalty and personalization, JetBlue, said in a statement. "With Points On Repeat and the ability to use points for extras, we’re giving our customers more control, more flexibility and more ways to make every trip their own while earning and saving along the way."
