The pilot of a Frontier Airlines flight arriving in Philadelphia called for emergency services to meet the plane when it landed on Monday after a passenger reportedly became unresponsive during the flight, possibly due to a drug overdose.
According to AirLive.net, Frontier Flight 2538 was en route from Tampa International Airport to Philadelphia International Airport when crew members reported a medical emergency at approximately 4 p.m. local time.
The captain alerted air traffic control that a passenger seated in 22A had reportedly become unresponsive as the aircraft approached Philadelphia and that they would need priority handling and advanced life support upon arrival.
Medical personnel traveling on the Airbus A321neo flight stepped in to assist with the emergency while the pilots coordinated with authorities on the ground. Flight communications described the situation as a suspected overdose.
The aircraft landed safely on Runway 27R at Philadelphia International Airport at approximately 4:20 p.m. They proceeded directly to Terminal D, where emergency medical personnel were waiting at the gate to help the impacted passenger.
Earlier this week, a female passenger on an American Airlines flight from Baltimore to Miami was taken into custody by police after the crew reported disruptive and indecent behavior during the journey.
