Southwest and Omni Hotels Giving Away Free Flights, Hotel Stays for Total Solar Eclipse

Southwest Airlines and Omni Hotels & Resorts are teaming up to offer a special "Solarbration" sweepstakes ahead of the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.

The sweepstakes—which can be entered now through March 11—will reward two lucky winners with a prize package that includes air travel on a flight predicted to be in the direct path of the eclipse.

The flight options include Southwest Flight 1252, which departs Dallas (Love Field) at 12:40 p.m. CT for Pittsburgh, and Southwest Flight 1721, which departs Austin at 12:55 p.m. CT for Indianapolis.

Omni will do its part by putting the winners up in custom-designed guest rooms inspired by the celestial event. The special accommodations will be located at Omni Hotels in the departure cities of Dallas and Austin and the arrival cities of Pittsburgh and Indianapolis.

In addition to roundtrip flights and accommodations for two nights, winners will receive exclusive solar eclipse viewing glasses and fun inflight experiences aboard their eclipse flights.

The Solarbration sweepstakes is open to legal residents of 50 United States and the District of Columbia except Alaska and Rhode Island. All entrants must also be 21 or older.

"The whole world will be looking up on April 8, and we're over the moon to leverage our place in the sky by extending an opportunity to observe this phenomenon on several Southwest flights in the path of the eclipse," Julia Melle, Director of Brand and Content for Southwest Airlines said in a statement. "Connecting People to places and experiences is what we do best and rounding out this once-in-a-lifetime flight opportunity with a celestial stay at Omni Hotels aligns the stars for two lucky winners."

Southwest also identified additional high-demand flights that will likely allow passengers to experience the total solar eclipse from the sky. They include:

• Southwest Flight 1910: departs St. Louis at 1:20 p.m. CDT for Houston (Hobby)
• Southwest Flight 955: Departs Dallas (Love Field) at 12:50 p.m. CDT for Chicago (Midway)
• Southwest Flight 506: Departs Milwaukee at 1:05 p.m. CDT for Dallas (Love Field)
• Southwest Flight 1734: Departs Houston (Hobby) at 1:35 p.m. CDT for Indianapolis
• Southwest Flight 1682: Departs Chicago (Midway) at 1:30 p.m. CDT for Austin
• Southwest flight 3108: Departs Nashville at 1:40 p.m. CDT for Dallas (Love Field)
