How would you like a real, bona fide flight simulator in your basement?
There are 10 of them with your name on it.
A former Northwest Airlines/Delta Air Lines training center in Eagan, Minn. - abandoned since 2012 - is being demolished next month, and everything inside is up for auction.
That includes everything from the smallest item (old employee nametags) to the biggest (the flight simulators). The facility is being razed to make way for the new team headquarters and practice facility for the NFL's Minnesota Vikings.
There are three floors of items being auctioned off from the 300,000 square-foot facility, including office equipment and old generators, among other things.
But the thing that catches everybody's eyes - from diehard aviation geeks to casual memorabilia collectors - are the flight simulators.
"I've not sold life-size simulators before," Judd Grafe, president of Grafe Auction, which is handling the event, told twincities.com. "And we've been doing this for 60 years. This is unique."
A spokesperson for Delta Airlines told KARE-TV in Minneapolist that during its consolidation, the company moved 10 simulators from the MSP Training Center, including four A320s, two Boeing 757s, two A330s, one 747-400 and one DC-9.
Public bidding began online Sept. 29 and ends Oct. 13-14, depending on the items. Go to grafeauction.com or visit the flight training center, at 2600 Lone Oak Point in Eagan, Minn., between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10.
