A Southwest Airlines plane heading to Houston was forced to make an emergency landing Sunday after a female passenger attempted to open an emergency exit midflight.
According to ABC Houston, Southwest Airlines Flight 4519 was traveling from Los Angeles International Airport to William P. Hobby Airport in Houston when the disruptive passenger forced crew members to call for an emergency landing at Corpus Christi International Airport in Texas.
A witness on the plane named Henrietta Mokwuah said she saw a woman who appeared to be unstable pacing up and down the aisle of the plane. Eventually, the woman grabbed the emergency exit door and broke a piece off while attempting to open it.

"It's been pretty trying. You're not just going to do that kind of stuff in America anymore," Mokwuah told ABC Houston's official website. "I don't think anybody thought she was going to get to the door. It was pretty stressful for hours."

Other passengers on the plane report that an off-duty police officer named Pamela Minchew and a male passenger took down the disruptive person and restrained her for the remainder of the flight.
The suspect was questioned by authorities but has not been formally charged with a crime. Police in Corpus Christi have turned over the investigation to the FBI.
