With the launch of its 2019 river cruise brochure, Avalon Waterways is adding six new river cruise options, including its first along India's colorful Ganges river.
The new itineraries will open up new parts of Europe and Asia for Avalon guests, while also introducing new, all-suite ships that include floor-to-ceiling, open-air balconies. With the new ships, also comes an expansion of Avalon Choice services-where guests can select from numerous excursions and onboard activities that best suit their travel style.
Itinerary options will be categorized into three classifications: Discovery, Active and Classic, allowing guests to tailor their cruise to their own interests and activity level. Discovery programs will speak to specific, niche interests such as cooking classes and painting workshops that will provide a deep-dive into the local culture. Active elements will appeal to the most energetic audiences and include options such as guided jogging tours to cycling, paddling and hiking through scenic locales. With the classic elements, local experts will continue to share their knowledge through guided explorations of the history and heritage of Avalon destinations.
For 2019, Avalon Waterways' most distinctive offering is a 13-day voyage through the heart of India, away from the bustling bigger cities. While the itineraries will include stops at the iconic Taj Mahal and Amber Fort, guests will also able to explore Saint Mother Teresa's former home and interact with local artisans such as sari weavers, goldsmiths and pottery makers. The 13-day Ganges cruise will also be packaged into other Avalon Waterways' India offerings for 2019.
Also new for 2019, is an eight-day Active Discovery on the Rhône itinerary. Sailing from the Rhône delta in Southern France to Lyon, guests will enjoy a distinctive wine-tasting experience that unfolds underground in the company of a local wine-making expert and cave specialist. Also included are a cycling journey around Camargue Regional National Park and canoeing through the canyons of the Gorges de l'Ardèche.
Other new itineraries include the 9-day Reflections on the Seine (Paris to Paris); 11-day German Grandeur (Basel to Munich; Munich to Basel); Enchanted Europe (Budapest to Basel, 18 days; Basel to Budapest, 16 days); and the 11-day Burmese Days (Yangon to Yangon.)
