This May, Norwegian Cruise Line is celebrating military appreciation month by participating in a number of initiatives and engaging events to support the American military community.
The events and initiatives include the Coca-Cola 600, which is the annual 600-mile NASCAR Cup Series race, and Fleet Week Miami, which will be the first Fleet Week held in Miami.
Norwegian Cruise Line will also continue to support the organization Honor and Remember, which is dedicated to supporting the fallen members of the U.S. military.
As part of its support, Norwegian Cruise Line flies the Honor and Remember flag on every ship of its 19-ship fleet and has already committed $75,000 in donations to the organization.
Norwegian Cruise Line will also host" The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau's Annual State of the Travel + Tourism Industry Presentation" at their terminal at PortMiami on the 21st, with all proceeds going to Honor and Remember.
The cruise line also has its own organization dedicated to helping current and former members of the U.S. military with its Military Appreciation Program, which was founded in 2022 and provides former members of the U.S. military special onboard experiences, gifts, and amenities.
The things former members of the U.S. military receive include a dedicated welcome packet, an NCL challenge coin, a patch representative of the ship they're sailing on, a 10 percent fare discount, and a special ceremony on board.
"To hear the amazing feedback and stories from veterans and military families that have sailed with us through this program fills me with joy," Senior Vice President and Chief Security Officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd Matthew Lewis said.
"Many of us personally understand the sacrifices this community has made for their country, and to be able to have a positive impact and provide an opportunity to reconnect with their loved ones is a privilege," Lewis continued.
Currently, In just under two years, more than 220,000 military members have signed up for the veteran-developed program.
"Throughout Military Appreciation Month and every day on board our ships, it is our privilege to recognize and honor the brave men and women who have served in the U.S. military and their families for their sacrifice," President of Norwegian Cruise Line David J. Herrera said.
"Supporting the military community is a shared passion for the entire NCL family and we are proud to team up with fantastic organizations like Fleet Week Miami, Coca-Cola, and Honor and Remember to make an impact for this community," Herrera continued.

What the Events Are All About
Due to the partnership between Norwegian Cruise Line and Fleet Week, Miami, Norwegian Cruise Line hosted The USS Bataan at its port Miami terminal, which kicked off a week-long celebration hosted by the U.S. Navy.
During this time, former U.S. Navy SEAL Matthew Lewis, the Senior Vice President and Chief Security Officer for the brand's parent company spoke at the Fleet Week Miami Mayoral Welcome press conference as well as presented a ceremonial plaque.
Norwegian Cruise Line also participated in daily Fleet Week Miami events through its Veteran Task Force, which is a group of employees who are either veterans themselves or have a close family connection to an active or former member of the U.S. military.
Later this May, Norwegian Cruise Line will also team up with Coca-Cola for the second year in a row to honor Gold Star Families at the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, where the families will be honored with a lunch and as well as a number of surprises.
