Norwegian Cruise Line is offering a first look at the new Great Tides Waterpark at Great Stirrup Cay.
"With just one month until the grand opening of Great Tides Waterpark, we're excited to give guests a first look at what will become one of the Caribbean's most dynamic destination experiences that can only be enjoyed when sailing with us," says Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.
The waterpark will be the newest addition to the brand’s 270-acre private island in the Bahamas when it opens September 4. The massive waterpark, which spans nearly six acres, will have 19 waterslides, cliff jumps, a 9,000-square-foot splash zone, swim-up bars, a nearly 800-foot dynamic river, a new jet kars water track and other experiences.
"From adrenaline-pumping attractions and family-friendly activities to unique dining experiences and places to relax, Great Tides Waterpark will showcase the innovative design, scale and adventure that await guests visiting the island,” says Kazlauskas.
It will also bring new culinary options to Great Stirrup Cay, including Low Tide Smoke serving slow-smoked barbecue dishes; Catch of the Cay offering cold-water seafood; and Tidal Treats, dishing out handcrafted desserts. Complimentary buffet-style options will also be available within Great Tides Waterpark.
Guests can enjoy drinks at the Grotto Bar, located at Cliffside Cove beneath The Great Slide offering front-row views of adventurers diving 10 to 15 feet into the water from the industry’s only cliff jumps. Another new option is the Floataway Bar, located in the heart of The Wandering River. Drinks on Great Stirrup Cay are included in the line’s unlimited beverage package.

The brand recently debuted a new two-berth pier that allows two vessels to dock at Great Stirrup Cay at once, eliminating the need to tender guests from ship to shore. Other recent upgrades include a new welcome plaza, new tram service and a massive 1.4-acre heated pool area called the Great Life Lagoon featuring cabanas, villas, loungers and two swim-up bars.
“Together with our ongoing enhancements across Great Stirrup Cay, we're creating even more ways for guests to enjoy their day in paradise without compromise,” says Kazlauskas. “This beautiful island offers something for kids and adults alike, whether they’re a thrill seeker, in search of relaxation, or simply want a little bit of both."

Guests who want to be part of Great Tides Waterpark’s official grand opening celebration can book Norwegian Luna’s August 29 seven-day Caribbean departure. After that, itineraries that include visits to Great Stirrup Cay will be available year-round.
Day passes to Great Tides Waterpark are on sale now for voyages calling to Great Stirrup Cay beginning in September, and guests can purchase them by logging into their myNCL account after completing their cruise reservation.
