Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. President and CEO Frank J. Del Rio announced a number of executive appointments that report directly to him. Several are executives who have worked for him for years, some since the days he co-founded Oceania Cruises in 2002.
NCLH in November purchased Prestige Cruise Holdings, the parent company of Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. On Jan. 9, NCLH announced that Norwegian CEO Kevin Sheehan had abruptly resigned and was replaced by Del Rio, who had been chairman and CEO of Prestige. NCLH also includes Norwegian Cruise Line.
Bob Binder, who was there when Del Rio and Joe Watters founded Oceania, was named president of international operations of NCLH. He has served in numerous positions over the years, including vice chairman and president of Prestige.
Howard Sherman, executive vice president of revenue management for Prestige, now holds the same title at NCLH. He joined Prestige in 2003 as the senior vice president of revenue management for Oceania and added oversight for Regent Seven Seas Cruises when Prestige purchased it in 2008.
Robin Lindsay, executive vice president-vessel operations for Prestige, moves into the same position for the new parent company, as does Victor Gonzalez, executive vice president-supply chain and logistics management.
Harry Sommer, who was senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Prestige, moves up to senior vice president and chief integration officer for NCLH. The former chief integration officer, named by Sheehan to oversee the merger of Prestige into NCLH, was Jason Montague, who now serves as president of Oceania and Regent. Sommer joined Prestige in 2009.
As Sommer moves up, the CMO position for Prestige was filled by James Rodriguez, a long-time Prestige/Oceania executive who rejoins the company after departing Nov. 21 shortly after the acquisition.
Drew Madsen will continue as president and COO of Norwegian Cruise Line. Wendy Beck will continue in her role as executive vice president and CFO with additional responsibilities for support services.
"Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings is on an incredible growth trajectory. The board of directors and I have been working closely to fine-tune our vision for the future and how we can best channel the core competencies of our three great brands and the talents of our 30,000 team members," Del Rio said. "To that end, we have crafted an organizational structure with both centralized and brand-specific functions and selected seasoned leaders that will carry out that vision."
