After a recent trip to Iceland, writer David Code points out some of the mistakes that travelers can make when they visit the highly popular and incredibly scenic country. In an article for the Huffington Post, Code notes that Iceland has become somewhat of a "Wild West of Tourism."
"Many sketchy tour sellers take advantage of our ignorance to provide overpriced, boring tours led by students on summer break from college," notes Code.
Code suggests travelers turn to Iceland Travel, one of the countries oldest tourism providers and experts in the field.
"Iceland Travel offers the Holy Grail of Tourism: good taste and editorial as to what's really worth your time and money," he says.
Another mistake travelers make is transportation.
"Many tourists book bus tours because they feel overwhelmed by too many tourism options to choose from, and they're uncomfortable driving in a foreign country. Huge mistake," says Code, who has tips for renting a car instead.
Lastly, he notes that you should avoid FOMO - fear of missing out. Don't spend your whole trip driving the ring road, Code says.

"This is easy to do if you know one, big secret about Iceland: you can encounter all of the country's natural wonders, from volcanoes to lava fields to glaciers to hot springs, in one region 2 hours from the airport: Snæfellsnes (more below)," writes Code.
