Instead of standing next to a grill waiting for the sun to go down and the fireworks to begin, many travelers choose to spend their Independence Day weekend celebrating the holiday at theme parks across the United States.
The amusement park capital of the world is Orlando, and the city celebrates the holiday weekend like only it could.
At Walt Disney World, the fireworks displays are second to none, as Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios host several days of patriotic versions of their nightly shows.
At SeaWorld Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Legoland Florida, the daily nighttime shows feature American themes celebrating Independence Day that culminate in massive fireworks displays.
As travelers head up the East Coast, a stop at Dollywood gives the children in any party the chance to experience Independence Day at Camp DW via art projects, activities and plenty of rides. The camp runs throughout the holiday weekend each year and culminates on the Fourth of July with a patriotic pool party, a massive BBQ and a fireworks display to cap the holiday.

For tourists who stop in Pennsylvania, Dorney Park celebrates the birth of our nation with a series of patriotic events, including the all-you-can-eat Ribfest festival, free admission for members of the Armed Forces and a spectacular fireworks display.
Those on the East Coast won't have all the fun, though, as Disneyland promotes four straight nights of fireworks displays set to the sounds of patriotic songs. At Universal Studios Hollywood, the all-new 'The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle' experience gave travelers a viable holiday alternative this year.
While it may be too late to travel with the family to a theme park for this year's Independence Day weekend celebration, the festivities around the country should be enough to get travelers to make plans for the next Fourth of July.
