Kim Kardashian stopped by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to speak with the host about how she has dealt with the horrifying events that took place on October 2, 2016.
For the uninitiated, Kardashian was in France at the time for the famed Paris Fashion Week.
As she relays to Ellen (h/t Travel + Leisure), she had decided to not go out and carouse that night and opted to stay in and get some packing done. At about 2:30 a.m. local time, she states she heard some running up the stairs, which she took for her sister and friend.
Instead, according to reports, it was five people donning police uniforms who were there to rob her, eventually absconding with a $4.5 million ring as well as assorted items that value $5.6 million.
As the reality-TV star explains, the entire ordeal has made her "such a different person."
Kardashian has completely changed how she travels, alluding to the fact that she either no longer brings jewelry with her or hints that what she does bring might be fake.
She explains: "My whole life has changed, as far as how I travel and what security [I have]. I never thought I'd need security staying outside my door, even though I have a lot of jewelry. If you think about it, I should have had security outside my door 24/7 when I'm traveling. And I didn't. Now, I have several just so I can be able to sleep at night."

Kardashian explains the robbers held the concierge at gunpoint and forced the worker to open the door to Kardashian's apartment at the Hotel de Pourtales.
Vanity Fair covers the incident and spoke with veteran Paris police reporter Frédéric Ploquin.
Ploquin explained a bit more on these types of burglaries, called home-jackings in France: "They're born in France, but most of them are from North Africa: Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia. And Romanian Gypsies from France, whom we call Manouche. They are smart, clever, and they know how to follow someone on the Internet. They can also use violence, sometimes even when it's not necessary."
The good news for Kardashian is that she was ultimately safe, albeit scarred from a truly awful ordeal.
As he offers to Ellen, "it could have been way worse."
