The world has officially lost its collective mind over Pokémon Go. So if you can't beat them, you should probably just fire up the smartphone, walk to your nearest watering hole and join them.
As you might know, the kind of Pokémon you catch depends largely on the setting in which you find yourself.
If you are hanging out with friends at the beach or at the lake, you should be able to do some serious work on getting water mons into your Pokédex.
The cash cow of such an endeavor would have to be aboard a cruise ship, right? Sadly, that doesn't seem to be the case.
Before we get to places where you can find some awesome Pokémon, we give you evidence of how your seafaring adventure would turn out.
Of course, being in port will be far more lucrative to your endeavors.
As others have noted, Pokémon Go utilizes Niantic's previous software from the game Ingress. Portals in that game seem to be where you will find gyms and Poké Stops. And from this list, the amount of stops is extensive around the world.
As this Reddit chain points out, moving portals in Ingress is problematic, so you can see where a constantly moving ship would pose a problem for a majority of the game.
Although, it's not unheard of to find people having success in finding spawning mons on ships - you just need a constant flow of data or Wi-Fi. As TravelPulse has pointed out in the past, getting Internet on a cruise ship can be at the very least problematic and costly.
It very well seems that you will have to stick to more land-friendly confines for your endeavors. Sadly, this seriously puts a damper on our hope to relive the S.S. Anne in real life.
Now onto where you can target for your water mons or other adorable beasts.
Maps:
Here is a brief list of map tools that have spawned as quickly as Squirtles out there.
PokeMapper: A crowdsourced solution to where some users are finding specific mons.
Gabbermap: This app is free and promises to highlight Pokemon Gyms.
Pokemon Go Maps: Another app that, for less than a dollar, promises, "to help you find rare Pokemon, Pokestops, and Gyms."
Map for Pokemon Go: Android users also have a solution.
Ingress Solution: As this Redditor spells out, using the Ingress app will give you an idea of where you should be searching.
Now we haven't yet taken these solutions for a whirl, so keep us posted on your success with these methods.
Go To Already Popular Destinations:

The above illustrates just how far people are willing to go to catch them all, which even means straight into the drink.
As the Ventura County Star reported, more and more people are flocking to these kinds of destinations and really utilizing the area.
The publication spoke with an enthusiast by the name of Maleeya Davidson who states: "Last night, I walked four miles. You hatch eggs by walking so more Pokémon will spawn around you."
The way the game is programmed, you really should have success no matter where you head, so go ahead and frequent that river, lake or beach you have neglected for far too long.
And if you are taking a cruise, perhaps use the time to holster the smartphone. There will be plenty of Pokémon available when you return.
