Citi wants you to travel, and they are helping you do it with a full revamping of their ThankYou Premier membership. Citi ThankYou Premier Card members now have the ability to earn 3 points per $1 spent on travel, no matter how they are getting to their destination. Gas, tolls, subway and taxi rides, airfare, hotels, cruises - virtually any commuting expenses.
"ThankYou Premier redefines travel by rewarding our card members for virtually any way they are getting to their destination - by bike, bus, train, car or plane," said Chris Fred, Head of Proprietary Products, Citi Cards North America. "We know our card members love to travel and see how their everyday travel spending can turn into meaningful rewards. Whether going to work, driving their kids to a soccer game, or escaping on a getaway, each purchase rewards them with ThankYou Points so they can more quickly get to their next vacation."
ThankYou Premier Card members pay a annual fee of $95 for which they receive:
• 3 points for every $1 spent on travel from gas, taxi and car service, parking, tolls and bike shares - to airfare, hotels, cruises, car rentals, travel agencies, railways, and more.
• 2 points for every $1 spent on dining out and entertainment, from sporting events, concerts and amusement parks to movie tickets, music downloads, and more.
• 1 point for every $1 on other purchases.
Card members also have spending power abroad, with no foreign transaction fees on international purchases, and special chips installed in the cards that allow for global acceptance. Rental car travel is smoother as well. Theft and damage rental car insurance up to $100,000 in any country. They also receive Roadside assistance almost anywhere in the U.S. There's baggage delay protection and lost baggage coverage if items are lost, stolen or damaged while on a plane, train, bus, or cruise, and if the trip has to be called or held off, cancellation and interruption protection up to $5,000 per trip and trip delay protection up to $500 per trip.
Card members now also receive 25 percent more when redeeming for flights, hotels, cruises and car rentals through the ThankYou Travel Center. ThankYou Premier card members can also transfer their ThankYou points to 13 outside travel loyalty programs.
For those of you who are using your points for travel anyway, this is one of the best programs out there.
