Sure, there are some magical things left to do this winter in New York City, like ice skating or snowy walks through Central Park, but for those who appreciate fine dining, there are few things more exciting this time of year than NYC Restaurant Week.
Nearly 400 restaurants participate in the culinary event that begins January 22 and continues through February 9, offering $29 lunches and $42 dinners, which is a bargain for most of these renowned establishments. From steaks to seafood, here's our list of can't miss hot spots throughout the city:
Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse New York
Stop by Del Frisco's during the week and Saturday lunch for famed seafood, award-winning wines and its hand-cut prime steaks at a fraction of the normal cost.
For $28, guests are invited to indulge in signature Del Frisco's favorites such as classic Caesar salad, Wagyu French dip or a six-ounce cut of prime filet mignon. As the only NYC restaurant receiving the 2017 Wine Spectator Grand Award, this meal is pretty much guaranteed to be a knockout.
The Stanton Social
Grab your friends and head to The Lower East Side's trendiest hangout, The Stanton Social, for its special Restaurant Week menu. Enjoy everyone's favorite shared plates, including deliciously creative dishes such as spiced sesame salmon and Brussels sprout ravioli.
Don't miss out on the chicken and blue corn waffles, either; You won't regret it.
Altamarea Group
If you're a lover of gourmet cuisine, chances are you've heard of Altamarea Group and its selection of top-notch dining in the city. This Restaurant Week, make your reservations at three of Chef Michael White's top restaurants for some indulgent dining.
Ai Fiori will be offering a menu of Italian favorites such as tagliatelle with carbonara, risotto with black truffles and a chocolate opera cake for dessert. Chic French establishment, Vaucluse, is offering rich dishes such as braised veal with puff pastry and pan-roasted sea bream.
Not to be upstaged, Ristorante Morini will be serving up an equally tasty selection that includes pan-seared skate and a roasted chicken with mushroom farrotto for lunch.
Beauty and Essex
Looking for an out-of-the-ordinary dining experience? The Lower East side's Beauty and Essex is your answer. Continue past the modern day pawn shop and head to one of four luxurious dining rooms for plates that include 'chille relleno' empanadas, brick-pressed lemon chicken and braised short ribs.

Green Fig
Head to the Theater District's Green Fig to check out both a new menu and a new star. Chef de Cuisine Yuval Litmanovich joins the kitchen straight from Tel Aviv and will be putting his own touches on the Israeli-accented Mediterranean cuisine this Restaurant Week.
Green Fig's three-course dinner menu feature new standouts such as "Ha'Carmel" market kebab, with three grilled skewers of lamb and beef kebab, branzino with a burnt eggplant cream, mushroom "risotto" made with Israeli couscous and more.
VANDAL
The Lower East Side's VANDAL is known for its globally-inspired cuisine, and there's no better time to try out all of this tastiness. The two-level space features some pretty cool wall art and graffiti, but once ready to eat, dive into dishes like crispy bao buns and butternut squash ravioli.
And for dessert? Treat yourself to an Irish coffee milkshake shot.
Legasea at Moxy Times Square
Located right by Madison Square Garden, Legasea is a new dining concept that prides itself on local, sustainable dishes in a modern atmosphere. This year's Restaurant Week will be its first ever. Legasea will be featuring unbeatable seafood dishes in a prix fixe menu that includes customer-favorites such as the spicy crab beignets, wild branzino, three-piece fried chicken and Legasea sundae.
Kingside
For an upscale dinner at a great price, stop by Kingside. This Midtown New American restaurant will be cooking up a tantalizing selection of classic dishes with a unique twist. Think: acorn squash soup, rainbow trout and cauliflower croquettes. And for those with a sweet tooth, try the caramel pudding.
Irvington
For a Mediterranean-influenced menu of New American classics, look no further than Irvington. This spot highlights fresh, locally-sourced ingredients from the neighboring Union Square Greenmarket. Take in dishes at lunch and dinner during Restaurant Week, including salt-baked beets and housemade bucatina.

Left Bank
The West Village favorite Left Bank will be hosting special Restaurant Week menus for both dinner and brunch, highlighting some of their renowned dishes in addition to a few new seasonal items.
Guests get ready for dishes such as sunchoke and onion soup, as well as chicken liver and mushroom pate or strozzapreti with acorn squash and the famous, Left Bank split roast chicken. The three-course dinner menu is a steal at $42.
You can even swing a $29 brunch, which includes a beverage option (mimosa, bloody Mary, coffee or sangria-to start the day), a first course like cut oats and mains such as brioche French toast, babushka's cheese omelet or a tuna Nicoise.
Fifty
The Ecuadorian-American restaurant Fifty will feature a specialty curated prix fixe menu from Chef Jamarillo. The selection will include a potato soup with queso fresco and caviar as well as shrimp "encocao" with coconut-milk ginger broth. Main courses include swordfish a la plancha and grilled skirt steak with French lentil "menestra".
For dessert, guests can treat their taste buds to a carrot cake with whipped cream.
Bedford & Co.
Enjoy restaurant week offerings all day long at Bedford & Co. This American eatery from restauranteur John Delucie will be serving a special prix fixe for brunch, lunch and dinner, which all include a first, second and dessert course.
Brunch and lunch feature highlights that include chicken with waffles and maple hot sauce, as well as burata with kambocha squash and pumpkin seed salsa verde. Dinner highlights include slow roasted pork with honey crisp apple; And for dessert a rye brownie with sea salt, candied walnuts, luxardo cherries and vanilla gelato.
