With so much political turmoil in the United States right now, Washington D.C. is expected to become the home of an anti-President Donald Trump hotel scheduled to open during spring 2018.
According to Bloomberg.com, hotel founder Katherine Lo revealed the hotel, dubbed the Eaton Workshop, will cater to Democrats visiting Washington and promote liberal activism and civic engagement.
The 209-room hotel will be located just blocks from the Trump International Hotel and will feature liberal philosophy ingrained into every aspect of the guest experience, starting with the name. The Eaton Workshop moniker is based on a shopping mall in Montreal that became a focal point for Lo’s father Ka Shui Lo when he fled the Cultural Revolution in China.
Ka Shui Lo is the creator and executive chairman of Hong Kong-based Langham Hospitality Group Ltd. The family is using their experience in the tourism industry to expand the Eaton Workshop brand.
The Washington D.C. hotel will be the brand’s flagship, but there are plans for more locations, including a second facility opening in Hong Kong during 2018 and two new construction projects in San Francisco and Seattle being built no sooner than 2019.

Inside the Washington hotel, guests will be treated to progressive lectures, fireside chats, art installations and exhibitions, a residency program for investigative reporters and an anti-Trump video installation in the lobby.
Lo said she hopes the revenue from the new facility will help support the Eaton Workshop brand’s creative projects; Prices for the rooms at the Washington hotel will run in the upper $200s per night.
