HOTELS Magazine recently revealed its prestigious annual ranking of the world's top corporate hotel companies, where Barceló Hotel Group improved its global positioning from 42 to 29, becoming the third-largest Spanish chain in the ranking. Published in the latest issue of the influential North American magazine, the report has been ranking the world's biggest hotel companies by the number of guestrooms for 47 consecutive years.
The past few years have seen unprecedented growth for Barceló Hotel Group. In 2016, Barceló Hotel Group added three new brands to complement its original brand, Barceló Hotels & Resorts: Royal Hideaway Luxury Hotels & Resorts, Occidental Hotels & Resorts and Allegro Hotels. Throughout 2017, Barceló Hotel Group added 20,175 new rooms and 130 more establishments, reaching a total of over 54,000 rooms and 245 hotels.
As part of this new multi-brand strategy, Barceló Hotel Group has invested more than $110 million in the renovation of 12 of its properties in Mexico, Dominican Republic, Aruba and Central America. Additionally, the brand introduced new, upgraded architecture to some properties, in order to better define brand standards and guest experiences. Some noteworthy enhancements and openings include:
El Embajador, a Royal Hideaway Hotel-One of Barceló Hotel Group's most noteworthy projects was the $40 million remodeling of one of the most iconic properties in the Caribbean: El Embajador, a Royal Hideaway Hotel-located in the heart of Santo Domingo. The grand dame of the Dominican Republic's luxury hotel world has been given a new lease on life following renovations undertaken by Barceló Hotel Group, which has allowed the property to retain its old school Santo Domingo glamor, seamlessly blending past and present for guests to immerse themselves in. The renovations were completed in Q1 of 2018.
Barceló México Reforma-Barceló Hotel Group's latest development is the opening of Barceló México Reforma, a new 500-room, 5-star flagship hotel located in the heart of Mexico City. This AAA Four-Diamond hotel is located on the most important and emblematic avenue of the city, Paseo de la Reforma, known for its celebrations and concerts, making it a wonderful option for city visitors. It's a close walk to the Monumento a la Revolución, very close to numerous financial points of interest and 20 minutes from the Benito Suárez International Airport.
Occidental Punta Cana-Located on Playa Bávaro, one of the Dominican Republic's most spectacular beaches, the all-inclusive Occidental Punta Cana underwent extensive renovations recently. The resort is the perfect home-base for on-the-water adventures, including windsurfing, snorkeling, kayaking, boogie boarding and more.
