Marriott International remains on a roll of bolstering its Mexico presence via a debut of its distinctive brands into fresh destinations. In July, the company inked an agreement with Inmobiliaria Turistica de Mazatlan to introduce the fast tracking Courtyard brand to the Pacific Coast resort destination of Mazatlan. Construction of the 200-room Courtyard Mazatlan is scheduled to begin late this year.

Upon its opening in 2019, the oceanfront property in Mazatlan's Zona Dorada - or Golden Zone - district will target business travelers via marketing its "refreshing ambience that helps guests stay connected, productive and balanced while traveling."

"The Courtyard brand continues to experience rapid growth in the Mexican market," said Tim Sheldon, Marriott International's president for the Caribbean and Latin America. "Courtyard has been a pioneer brand in the business travel category, and owners from around the country are recognizing that the Courtyard brand is a smart, dynamic hotel that combines innovative technology with style and comfort."

Courtyard Mazatlan will stay true to brand design by featuring guest rooms that optimize a balance of work, relaxation, comfort and sleep. Guests will enjoy plus bedding, stylish bathrooms, flexible workspaces, Wi-Fi and Paul Mitchell Grooming Essentials.

Public spaces will also stay on track by merging high style with high tech, while the food and beverage front will provide healthy breakfast options and lighter evening fare covering cocktails, snacks, beer and wine.

Its Zona Dorada location will put Courtyard Marriott in an enviable neighborhood boasting the bulk of Mazatlan's tourist hotels, finer restaurants and hot local nightlife at Fiesta Land. Most of these attractions are within easy walking distance of one another. When walking is ruled out, Mazatlan's Pulmonia open-air cabs transport visitors throughout the city at reasonable rates.

At the north end of the Zona Dorada, Marina Mazatlan is home to the yachting crowd, as well as several hotels, condominiums and the 27-hole El Cid championship golf course designed by Lee Trevino.

With more than 1,000 locations in 40-plus countries, Courtyard tallies more properties than any other Marriott International brand. The company's additional Mexico brands include JW Marriott Hotels, Ritz-Carlton, Marriott Hotels, Fairfield Inn & Suites, and AC Hotels. The latter is a lifestyle brand, with its first Caribbean and Latin America properties recently opening in Queretaro and Guadalajara.
