The Waldorf Astoria Naples has a new name - the Naples Grande Beach Resort & Naples Grande Golf Course - and in January will unveil a new look, thanks to an $18 million renovation that is transforming its guestrooms and suites, restaurants, public spaces and beach area.
Frank Cavella, director of sales & marketing of the Naples, Fla.-based property, said the parting with Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts was amicable. "The hotel had a great partnership with Hilton Worldwide and Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts," he said.
Northwood Hospitality, which owns such independent luxury properties as The New York Palace, Cheeca Lodge in the Florida Keys, The London West Hollywood and Revere in Boston, acquired the resort last year. "They're going to apply their same formula for creating fresh and authentic experiences for the independent-minded traveler, here in Naples," said Cavella.
All 424 tower guestrooms and suites will be completely transformed, said Cavella, adding that guests can expect "a beach-inspired palette with cool and calming colors for luxurious yet comfortable spaces." Balconies, which have Gulf of Mexico views, will all receive new furniture.
"Our hotel has the largest rooms and balconies of any Naples property," Cavella said. "Our goal is for guests to really enjoy the outdoor Florida experience."
The resort's public spaces, three pools and beach area will also receive overhauls that are inspired from the ambiance of the outdoors.
Cavella said a new restaurant concept is being developed and the resort is also implementing new nature programs and family activities.
The resort, he said, has very large repeat guest base that have been visiting since its inception more than 25 years ago. "We've created special relationships with these guests and are very excited for them to join us on this new chapter in our history," Cavella said.
The Naples Grand caters to discerning luxury travelers in search of authentic experiences, Cavella said. "We'll always provide a unique level of luxury service that every guest who walks through our doors has come to know and love, but now we will deliver it in a new, independently creative way."
The property remains open during the renovation.
Set on 200 acres of protected mangrove estuary, the property features more than 83,000 square feet of meeting and event space, five restaurants, a 100-foot waterslide, a spa, an 8,000-square-foot fitness center, a business center and tennis facility with 15 courts. Its 18-hole golf course was designed by Rees Jones.
