A recent study conducted by Hilton Hotels & Resorts found that travelers are yearning for more from airport hotels.
While travelers typically settle on an airport hotel because of business, convenience or both, the study also shows that guests are intrigued by the potential for reworked concepts comprising additional amenities and more modern features.
According to the study, amenities like 4K televisions, mobile room service apps and direct-to-airport luggage transfer often excite travelers from all parts of the world.

To a large extent, the brand's recently opened Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol showcases what guests want from an airport hotel in 2016 and beyond.
The four-star hotel, which opened last year, easily checks both of the business and convenience boxes. With nearly two dozen different meeting spaces offered, it's the largest conference hotel near Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Plus, it's just a 10 minute walk from the airport's main terminal.
However style and luxury aren't left out.
At first glance guests will notice that the hotel looks like no other airport hotel. The highlight of the unique structure is the main atrium, which features a 42-meter-high glass roof that allows natural light to pour into the hotel's lobby and meeting spaces during the day.
Once inside their rooms, guests will uncover even more modern design features. For example, each guestroom boasts soundproof windows, a requirement for sleeping next to an airport.
For business travelers, the hotel's 433 rooms are also equipped with Wi-Fi access and an ergonomic desk.
What's more, the hotel's on-site eforea spa and fitness center are open 24 hours a day and guests can choose from three different restaurants.
As one might expect, that attention to detail is a hit with travelers. Nearly three-quarters (72 percent) of surveyed Americans shifted their viewpoint of airport hotels from "boring" to "modern" after being shown images of next-generation hotels like the Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. And more than 70 percent changed their viewpoint to "luxurious."

More importantly for Hilton and the rest of the hotel industry operating within the airport hotel sector, 74 percent of respondents who previously indicated that they were unlikely to stay at an airport hotel said they are now likely.
This new wave of hotels is transcending traditional airport hotels," said Hilton Worldwide's Vice President Of Global Brand Management For Full Service Brands Shawn McAteer in a statement. "This modern approach is tailored for today's savvy travelers and has increased consumer relevance for business and leisure travelers alike."
While the Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the company's newest airport hotel, it isn't the only. Hilton Worldwide currently operates 383 airport hotels around the globe, including more than 330 in the U.S. Hilton opened four airport hotels last year and has two more scheduled to open by the third quarter of 2018.
