Palladium Hotel Group celebrated the official opening of its two new resorts, TRS Coral Hotel and Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres Resort & Spa, located in Costa Mujeres, north of Cancun, Mexico. Palladium Hotel Group CEO Abel Matutes and tennis superstar Rafa Nadal served as honorary hosts of the event, with nearly 500 guests from more than 14 different countries.
The official opening of the first Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre, located on-site at the resorts, began with a press conference with Rafa Nadal and Abel Matutes attended by more than 100 journalists from around the globe.
"This is the first tennis complex that we opened outside the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca, and I am very excited to be able to do so in a complex as incredible as this. The Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre will be the ideal place for fans of this sport to combine their holidays with short tennis programs, and I am convinced that it will be a success," said Nadal during the press conference.
"The alliance of Palladium Hotel Group with Rafa Nadal for the launch of Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre is further evidence that the company has long focused on achieving differentiation, always with the goal of being the best, said Matutes. Additionally, it should be noted that, in particular with the Grand Palladium Hotels & Resorts brand, we had long given much importance to sports, and effectively enhancing sports facilities. Following the press conference, Nadal and Matutes led the opening ceremony by cutting a ribbon and unveiling the logo of the center. Attendees were then invited to take part in a tennis clinic led by Nadal, Carlos Moya (technical director of Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar) and the coaches of Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre. Ninety-eight guests participated in this once-in-a-lifetime clinic.
The Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre in Costa Mujeres offers tennis programs developed by Nadal and his technical team for players of all ages and abilities. The facility is open to hotel guests and local residents. Each tennis program is personalized and run by coaches from the Rafa Nadal Academy of Movistar.
With eight clay tennis courts, a soccer field, a paddle tennis court, a gym for warming up, stretching and basic training, a Rafa Nadal exhibition area, a shop with exclusive top-quality sports products and a bar-cafeteria with televisions, the Centre is one of the most comprehensive tennis facilities in Mexico.
The day culminated with a spectacular event that brought all the guests together for an evening of live music and entertainment as well as an excellent display of the resort's culinary options. Fireworks brought a magnificent day of celebration to a close.
