The government St. Kitts and Nevis of Ritz-Carlton
announced an agreement to build a 135-room Ritz-Carlton Resort Hotel and
Residences resort, with construction slated to commence in the fall of 2025 and
opening planned for 2028.
The resort’s construction will commence the completion of
management agreements between project developer Solidus Corp and Ritz Carlton
owner and Marriott International, according to local press reports.
“Concept and design development” for the resort, to be
located on St. Kitts’ Southeast Peninsula, is underway according to a report from
The Labour Spokesman. The property will feature 125 guest suites, 10 branded
villas and 15 branded condominium residence, according to the report.
Public areas will include a spa, multiple swimming pools, multiple
dining options, Ritz-Carlton beach and kids’ clubs, designed within a “Kittitian
Village” concept.
“This exclusive destination will not only elevate St. Kitts
as a luxury destination but is also anticipated also create significant
opportunities for our people,” said Dr. Terrance Drew, prime minister of the dual-island nation.
“We are thrilled to see this vision come to life and the
transformative impact it will have on our people and our tourism industry,”
added Marsha T. Henderson, St. Kitts and Nevis’s tourism minister.
“This project marks a significant milestone in our
commitment to bringing unparalleled luxury and service to St. Kitts,” said Pamela
Vasquez, director of development for Marriott International in the Caribbean
and Latin America, “demonstrating our confidence in the island’s potential and
our dedication to fostering growth and exceptional experiences for our guests.”
The project will resume a planned Ritz Carlton resort first
announced in 2018 as part of an agreement with The Liamuiga Corporation. However,
“significant progress was not made after the announcement” according to one
local media report.
