The W Fort Lauderdale and Residences will soon be the recipient of a sleeker, more contemporary look, thanks to an extensive renovation that will take place in stages throughout the rest of this year.
The facelift will include enhancements to guestrooms and suites, the W Living Room, oceanfront pool area, reception area and meetings facilities, according to Marylouise Fitzgibbon, the property's general manager. "More greenery and other elements of the outdoors will be brought inside, complementing the beautiful surroundings."
The property comprises two towers, the first of which houses 140 double queen rooms, 187 king rooms, 15 suites, a WOW suite and Extreme WOW suite. The second tower features 171 residential suites, the sales of which began in May. Each unit is equipped with a full kitchen, washer and dryer and balcony.
Fitzgibbon noted that the hotel boasts occupancies of more than 80 percent, and is attracting increasing number of groups and events. "W Fort Lauderdale continues to be the ultimate destination for wedding and social gatherings," she said. "As the official host of the CVB's historic Fort Lauderdale Love is Love event in February, which celebrated Florida's marriage equality, W Fort Lauderdale has seen tremendous growth in LGBT weddings."
In Fitzgibbon's estimation, the W Fort Lauderdale, which debuted in 2009, has played a key role in the city's continuing transformation into an upscale hotel destination. The city has developed an "overall cool atmosphere" with gastronomic and art scenes that continue to grow, she said.
The "cool" vibe is readily evidenced in W Fort Lauderdale's offerings, Fitzgibbon said, including the Whiskey Blue nightclub and the indoor/outdoor W Living Room Terrace, which was named 2015 Best Rooftop bar by USA Today's readers.
W Fort Lauderdale also features two infinity-edge pools overlooking the ocean and Intracoastal Waterway, and the Bliss Spa.
