Wyndham Hotel Group continues to aggressively expand its robust portfolio.
The hotel giant announced Wednesday that it has reached an agreement with Vancouver-based American Hotel Income Properties REIT Inc. (AHIP) to convert nearly four dozen hotels across the U.S. to Wyndham brands, including Baymont Inn & Suites, Travelodge, Super 8 and Days Inn.
The deal will add 46 economy and midscale properties to the Wyndham family in locations like Nashville; Kansas City, Kansas; Jefferson City, Missouri; Lincoln, Nebraska and Buffalo, New York.
Twenty-eight of the existing hotels will be transformed to the Travelodge brand, 14 will be converted to Baymont Inn & Suites and two will become Super 8 hotels. One of AHIP's two newly acquired hotels will be converted to a Days Inn property while the other will be rebranded under another Wyndham flag later this month.
The hotels will join Wyndham's global distribution network and the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program by the end of 2017, meaning members will likely be able to earn and redeem points at the properties in the near future.
ONE Lodging Management Inc. will continue to manage the hotels.
"By licensing Wyndham Hotel Group's renowned brands, our hotels tap into the power and scale of the company's unmatched portfolio and gain access to tremendous distribution, buying power, and sales capabilities in addition to an unrivaled loyalty program that is 53 million members strong," said AHIP CEO, Rob O'Neill in a statement accompanying Wednesday's announcement.
"Rob O'Neill and his team at AHIP have built a tremendous collection of clean, comfortable and affordable accommodations which guests have come to love," added Wyndham's executive vice president and chief development officer, Chip Ohlsson.
This week's agreement is the latest milestone in what's been an extremely productive year for Wyndham. The company launched its 19th brand in The Trademark Hotel Collection this past June and just recently completed its acquisition of the Midwest-centric AmericInn midscale brand.
The hotel group announced in 2016 that it would begin a transformation across all of its brands to better meet travelers' needs.
Year to date, Wyndham has added almost 200 hotels to its North American portfolio and has nearly 700 hotels and 63,000 rooms currently in its domestic pipeline for 2018 and beyond.
