A growing number of travel companies are severing ties with the National Rifle Association (NRA), after a devastating shooting at a Florida high school left 17 dead earlier this month.
Airlines
United Airlines and Delta Air Lines have both announced they are terminating NRA discounts.
Early Saturday morning, Delta tweeted that it was ending a contract with the NRA that provides discounted rates through the group travel program. Delta also said it was asking the NRA to remove all information about the airline from its site.
Similarly, shortly thereafter, United sent its own tweet with essentially the same message.
"United is notifying the NRA that we will no longer offer a discounted rate to their annual meeting and we are asking that the NRA remove our information from their website."
Hotels
Hoteliers are also eliminating partnerships with the NRA.
As far back as Monday, Best Western Hotels & Resorts had announced that it does not have an affiliation with nor is it a corporate partner of the NRA.
On Thursday, Wyndham tweeted the end of its affiliation with the membership association.
Auto Rental Companies
On Thursday, Enterprise Holdings announced that effective March 26, all three of its brands (Enterprise, Alamo and National) would be ending discounts for NRA members.
On Friday, The Hertz Corporation and Budget Car Rental followed Enterprise with similar announcements
While some travel industry companies are ending their affiliation with the NRA, others are reaching out directly to the family members of the Parkland victims. JetBlue, for example, is offering free tickets to Fort Lauderdale for family members of the victims.
