Several flights were delayed at Bellingham International Airport in Washington Saturday after officials found a marijuana grinder shaped like a grenade inside a passenger's luggage.
According to Kyle Mittan of The Bellingham Herald, Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Lorie Dankers reported that a man coming through the Bellingham airport was stopped during a screening process and had his carry-on luggage searched.
Officers soon discovered a camouflage marijuana grinder that was in the shape of a hand grenade, causing the Bellingham Police Department's bomb squad to respond to an emergency call.
Airport spokeswoman Marie Duckworth told The Bellingham Herald reported that security officials evacuated the screening and boarding areas. In addition, four departing flights were also delayed.
Investigators discovered that the suspected grenade was in fact a marijuana grinder, and the man who brought the paraphernalia to the airport was released from custody and permitted to board his flight.
